Alkirian Sky Empire - Beaufighters and Beauforts! by Lionel23 Alkirian Sky Empire - Beaufighters and Beauforts! by Lionel23

An amazing illustration of the fighting in the far north of the continent of Keros. Featured above is a battle between two factions within the Alkirian Sky Empire; the royalists, who support the crown Emperor (the ones flying the planes); and the imperialists, who wish for support from the ICA to crush their neighbors (the Alkirian Monitor pictured happens to belong to them).

Due to the nature of the cold weather and extreme conditions for aircraft in this region, all Alkirian planes possess twin engines as a signature design feature, in order to compensate for the harsh wind and bitterly cold environment. The principal fighter the Alkirians use is the Bristol Beaufighter; while their signature bomber/attack aircraft is the Bristol Beaufort. Both planes are rugged and share a signature trait of all Alkirian planes: a rear gunner.

Due to the restrictive natural terrain that their people fight in (and having to remain below mountain altitude to avoid the fierce snowstorms that is common for their lands), standard dogfighting doctrine dictates that planes perform high-speed passes at one another and use their rear gunner to 'follow up' for a kill, should the pilot fail to down his target during his attack run.

Poor ship, should have had more AA turrets. Are those bombers modeled after the Bristol Blenheim?

To answer you question yes the Beaufort is modelled on the Blenheim it is the follow up bomber used mostly by the Australians

Hmmm it might be, but the actual planes are the Beaufighter and Beaufort. Must be some shared chasis appearance design they copied and imitated from plane to plane.

Do you have any planes modeled after Messerschmitt designs?
