Canterbury Castle - Equestria MLP Expanded by Lionel23 Canterbury Castle - Equestria MLP Expanded by Lionel23
Illustration done by :iconjcbarquet: =jcbarquet. I've currently commissioned him to give some rough environmental sketches of the different far off regions in my 'Expanded' universe for My Little Pony/Equestria.

The picturesque castle above is the home of the Knights of Canterbury as well as the seat of authority for the Crown Prince, Prince Knight Light. Castle Canterbury defends many villages and hamlets that dot the pristine landscape, with lush trees and fields that are accentuated by crystal blue lakes and streams.

What a good scenery you have here ^^
At first sight, I thought it was an abandoned Castle and were occupied by Dragon...

If I may ask, What is 'Equestria' in your conjecture from your fanfic, If it was a large continent, or the world in the name of ponies living? or its the only one HUGE continent in the planet?
Because Im sure if Queen Chrysalis once said, "Equestria has more love than any place I've ever encountered", or could it be Changelings is some kind of 'foreigners' from another dimension with the ability to move between time & space (maybe Tartarus)?
Can you explain it?

Sure thing!

It was stated cannonically that Equestria was a nation. So a lot of these locations are on the fringe of Equestria's borders or remote 'colonies' much like the British Empire was with India and other locales.

For example Canterbury is a small kingdom across the Southern Oceans that watches another continent of threats that could cross over. Coltstantinople is a major trading city that ships a lot back to Equestria but also has plenty of traffic from other unnamed powers (like the Griffons, etc).

Princess Celestia always seems busy 'touring' Equestria so that is another reason why I try to make the nations make sense... to be plausible at being part of Equestria but being so far away as to be the reason they aren't mentioned in the show. I'm trying to keep the flavor/theme of the show in all these stories I write and not contradict any canon.

Also from the MLP map, the main body of Equestria is a lot like the United States. Being they are the 'standard' and make sense, I explore all the other parts of the world and their own cultures/peoples if they were included into MLP ^^

In my vision of Equestria, the planet that it is on, is called Bucephalas after the legendary steed of Alexander the Great (in our world anyway) but there would be no Alexander in the MLp world, so Bucephalas would have been either a celebrated warrior or a conqueror in the ancient past.

The castle looks a little like it's still under construction. Also, I didn't picture it to be so... big.

Speed paint too, so some level of detail is sacrificed ^^ This is mainly to give everyone a rough idea of what Canterbury looks like. Remember also, it's not only a 'castle' but think sort of like a castle town - in that when bad stuff threatens the Kingdom, it has to be big enough to hold all the ponies of the various villages and hamlets around Canterbury inside its walls.

Yes, that's what I got from this, it's just that when reading the story, I always pictured it as being more like a lonely castle near a town instead of a town within an entire castle, like Camelot.

Actually, I had that impression too; quick speed paint and I can't be nit-picky if the castle doesn't come exactly right, so just imagine it is smaller than it is (if it ever was 'show-ified', it would be a very simple castle). I could argue either way and both are acceptable! ^^
