Nation: Elysium (Elysa) Protectorate
Class: Heavy Battleship
Role: Fleet Command & Heavy Anti-ship Gunnery Support
Unique Features: One of the few 'four barrel' turret designs used in the world. Extremely heavy armor in exchange for greatly reduced speed, unique heavy AA guns.
Illustrated above is one of the main heavy ships the protagonists have on their side during the course of the story and war. Based off the King George V battleships the British used during WW2, the Prince Vossen-class battleships are the height of Elysium's naval dominance and power. Armed with a total of ten massive 14-inch guns (4 rear and 6 front), twenty QF 5.25 inch gun (deck AA guns, 10 per side), and eight dual purpose QF 4 inch Mk XVI naval guns (mounted 4 to each side of the bridge, upper level); the Prince Vossen brings much needed firepower to any aerial engagement or duel.
At the bow of the ship flies a giant flag that shows off the emblem of their home country Elysium, while the various pennants and livery flown at the rear show the history of the ship, either in present or past. Those displayed are often comprised of the many houses and families that have been aboard and served her with great distinction and service - all in the name of the Crown. Emblazoned on her bow is an intricate design showing off the ship's name, as the ships of the Royal Navy of Elysium are proud symbols of the power and grace of the Crown wherever these ships might go.
While heavily armored, the ship does suffer from a slight design flaw. Due to the experimental and unique loading system used for their four-barreled gun turrets, the system is prone to suffering mechanical malfunctions. A single jam in any one of the turret's four main guns will jam the loading of all the remaining guns housed in that same turret (the two barreled turret is not subject to this problem). This problem was highlighted especially during the Battle of Red Ridge when the Tantalus suffered a gun jam shortly after firing it's opening barrage, thereby sapping the ship of 40% of it's firepower during the whole engagement.
