Description

Commission reference sheet done by my good friend and very talented artist :iconmr-tiaa:*mr-tiaa. This is a visual reference of my 'My Little Pony: Expanded Universe' idea and to give some visual reference for those reading my story (or at least the parts I will eventually get to!).

The Equestrian Treaty Organization of Friendship, Cooperation, and Mutual Assistance (also known as the Equestria Pact - pun off the Warsaw Pact) is an alliance of all the major foreign and non-pony powers in Equestria. Founded by Princess Cadance of the Crystal Empire, what makes this treaty unique is that all members maintain cordial relations with Equestria Proper, while those of the Non-Aligned Powers are either neutral or actively hostile to Princess Celestia.

Guide for illustration: Name and Country of inspiration/origin (left), the leader or 'face' of that nation (middle), soldier or citizen of said nation (right).

NOTE: This entry to be cleaned up at a later date.

From top to bottom these regions are:

Neighpon
Inspired by: Uesugi clan (Sengoku Period); Echigo Province, Japan (Nippon)
Description: Home of the Kirin, this picturesque lands remain both natural and largely uninhabited. Her Honor the Lady Snow is the chief 'priestess' of her people and leader of the Kirin Kaichi warriors. They are a very traditional race who bear cutie marks but are more rigid than their liberal Equestrian counterpart. All Kirin are either affiliated with water or wind (the exception being the priestess herself who bears the mark of a torii gate). Those who are gifted with the talents of water become samurai warriors (their swords 'flowing' as easily as the river) or archers if they are gifted with the powers of wind.
Leader - Her Honor, Lady Snow
Soldier - Kirin Kaichii (Samurai warrior)

The Tsardom of Muskovy
Inspired by: Russian Federation & the Tsardom of Russia; Soviet Union, Russia
Description: Home of the winter Reindeers, they are the only race capable of living and thriving in the harsh and bitterly cold regions of the arctic north. The Tsarina rules over many Federal states under the banner of the Red Army. Her soldiers are battle-hardened - experience learned from dealing with the harsh winters of the region as well as numerous incursions from the Griffon Kingdoms, who are their neighbors. All Muskovite Reindeers are also able to fly, though they lack cutie marks or any other means of magic (though they are very strong physically, especially with their natural antler weapons).
Leader - Her Serenity, the Blessed Imperial Tsarina Dancer
Soldier - Muskovite Resident</b>

Equestria Zebraliland (The Dark Country)
Inspired by: British Somaliland; Africa
Description: Home of Zecora's people, the Dark Country (called that because there is so little known about these wild lands) is the most diverse region in all of Equestria. A single modest trade post acts as the only civilized center of entry into the country - known as Port-au-Prince. It is here that the Sable Antelopes (under the leadership of The Black Prince) protect foreigners and encourage trade with the outside world. Other predominant races are the hard-working wildebeests, jolly and friendly hippos, learned and educated giraffes, and finally the mysterious zebras.
Leader- The Black Prince
Soldier - Sable Warriors of the Sahel
Civilians - Zebra Fakirs and of the Wildlands, Wildebeests of the Serengeti, Hippos of the Great Lakes Basin, and Giraffes of the Savanna

THE THREE KINGDOMS (Three Kingdoms period, China) - The oriental lands of China are divided into three predominant commanderies, each with their own race and culture. My origin story for them is based on the Three Kingdoms-era from Historical China. The three main administrative commanderies are:

The Southlands (Kingdom of Wu, Southern China)- The Chinese ponies of this fertile and wet land are the largest population in all of the Orient. They are skilled martial arts practitioners and farmers, producing much of the food for all the Three Kingdoms.
Leader - Lord Liu Bay (based off Liu Bei of the Kingdom of Shu)
Soldier - Three Kingdoms-era infantryman

The Northern Steppes (Kingdom of Wei, Northern China)- The hilly and dry steppes area of Northern China are home to the Bactrian Camels. These large, hulking creatures are very strong and tough; often using their natural physical inclinations for manual labor that normal ponies or the deer-folk are unable to do themselves.

The Middle Kingdom (Kingdom of Shu, Western China)- The smallest of all the commanderies in the Orient, it is here that the Forbidden City of the Dao is located. The Dao are a deer-race that possesses either the ability to manipulate fire or earth elements (much like Benders from Airbender). The Empress is unique in that her royal lineage is the only one able to harness both elements at once. The Dao Empress currently rules over all the orient, and keeps all three kingdoms in a state of peace and harmony.
Leader - Her Imperial Highness, Empress Dao You
Soldier - Dao Consort

i wish the africa-based region was actually explored and established better, and wasn't associated with "wilderness" and "lack of civilization". would kill for someone to make a FiM land based on kenya specifically~
