Commission drawing by :iconenvidia14:~envidia14, showing the Duchess of the Occident, her ship, and the guards under her direct control (her brother commands the Grand Army of the Duke, who wear blue uniforms).

Depicted above is a preview illustration of another one of my stories (which I will eventually get to in my MLP fanfic series). Duchess Elorian Bay can be seen onboard her ironclad ship, the HRHS Warrior (Her Royal Highness' Ship), while also accompanied by two of her elite Royal Mareines, the Coltstream Guards.

The ship she is on is based off the Civil War-era City-class ironclad, which can be found here: [link]

EDIT: Wow, I'm surprised this made it to EQD so quickly! Thanks to whoever submitted it, wasn't really aiming 'for the top' with this idea so imagine how surprised I was to find out about that!

Wasn't the very first ironclad warship (OTL) also named H.M.S. Warrior?

Hmm, technically it was the Americans with the Monitor/Merrimac, but the British's first truly impressive one was called the H.M.S. Warrior, which is what I based the name of (being British-themed ponies, afterall).

I love your historical analog pony provences!

I dug up some old school books. Looks like the French invented the ironclad warship with the Gloire in 1859. HMS Warrior came a year later, starting the armorplate-and-cannons arms race that ended at Taranto, Pearl Harbor and Midway. USS Monitor and CSS Virginia were commissioned in 1862.

History just got 20% cooler because of ponies on an ironclad ship. Nice job.
