Illustration done by =jcbarquet. I've currently commissioned him to give some rough environmental sketches of the different far off regions in my 'Expanded' universe for My Little Pony/Equestria.

Port au Prince is the only major 'modern' port that can accomodate ships from Equestria for those wishing to visit the lands of Zecora's people. Port au Prince is the seat of power and home to the central government of the Sable Antelopes - a noble and just warrior race of the Equestrian Zebraliland (name is based off the British colony of 'British Somaliland, with British being replaced by Equestria in this case).

Though they are frequently raided by the Carthhoginians in the West, the Sable Antelopes (under the leadership of the Black Prince of the Sahel) have done well in maintaining peace in the region. Their major exports are cocoa beans (chocolate)and tagua (vegetable ivory), both of which are always in high demand back in Equestria and why the region is of particular interest to Princess Celestia.

Other important regions of Africa also include: the Serengeti (home to Zecora's people), the Sahel (the region of the Sable Antelopes), the Savannas (a colony of Daring Spiders from Australia are established themselves here), and lastly the Basin (home of the Carthhoginians).
