Illustrated above is one of the mainstay destroyers used by the Republic Legion. Based off the Allen M. Sumner-class WW2 destroyers in use by the United States during WW2.
This heavily armed destroyer displays the principal characteristics of all Legion ships: having as many dual-turrets guns as possible. The ship is armed with eight 5in/38 cal dual purpose guns (2 front, 1 center, and 1 rear), eight .50 cal machineguns (4 on each side), three quad .50 cal machineguns (1 front, 2 center), three dual 40mm bofors (1 center, 2 rear), and two x2 aerial-torpedo tube launchers (center). Unlike most destroyers fielded by other nations, the Republic variant relies heavily on its gunnery, sacrificing her torpedo launchers in order to upgrade her host of smaller caliber point defense weapons.
