Description

Commission concept done courtesy of my friend :iconmr-tiaa:*mr-tiaa, this is of the 'other' side of the Changelings and their original form (at least according to my head cannon).

The story behind the changelings is that they were once a single race - beautiful and very, very powerful. One day, they discovered the Power of Love and two schools of thought came of this discovery. One school sought to take this newfound power by force, thus gaining great power but acting like brutes in the process and corrupting themselves. The other side preached the idea of 'self-love' (which was narcissism), rather relying on themselves and not other outside parties for their source of power.

A short civil war ensued in which the Narcissistic school won, thus banishing the losers to leave The Empire for all eternity. Forced to wander the lands, the exiled preyed on other races around Equestria - eventually corrupting their beautiful bodies into the swiss-cheese forms of what would later become known as the Changelings.

The White Changelins renamed themselves 'Glamourlings' and continued to refine their art of improving themselves. Because of their views, they are an extremely haughty and selfish race. Their leader is known as the Shahbanu and they rely on a different kind of 'magic' than Queen Chrysalis and her changelings.

While the Black Changelings use shape-shifting to fool and overcome their enemies, the White Changelings prefer something more 'refined' and less brutish (and thus less physically taxing for such elegant creatures such as themselves). Instead, they use a form of magical telepathy to 'mind rape' their foes - making them live horrible experiences in their minds while they sit back and let their minds do all the work.

The 'look' of the Glamourling Empire is based off Ancient India (on clothing, while their society is based off the Mughal Empire). Pictured here is a 'soldier' glamourling with and without his Indian-styled armor.
