Dao Consorts of the Forbidden City of Daojiang

One of the Three Kingdoms of the 'Chinese' nation in my story, the Dao (pun on Tao, which is associated with Chinese) are a deer-folk who live in the Middle Kingdom of the Three Kingdoms (the ponies to their south, and the camels to the north). Within the Forbidden City of the Dao rules the Empress of all the Orient, Empress Dao You. She rules with the Mandate of Celestia and is one of the most powerful 'chanters' of all the Dao.

While physically weaker and frailer than ponies, Dao Consorts use magic via song and graceful movement and dances. Known as 'chanters' also, they control the elements natural to their homeland in very much the same way benders do in the Last Avatar (to give you an idea). Dao Consorts are experts at chanting and controlling Fire, while the ponies and camels are more familiar and in tune with their Earthly roots.

These particular consorts are using the Chinese string instrument known as the Erhu, while the middle one is holding a traditional Chinese lantern.
